Long Wait

Dear Friends:
First, I apologize for not keeping up my blog. But after 25 rounds of radiation in the month of July and August, I was ready for a break. I started living my life once again. I made it to Lake Powell, a forever coveted excursion with family. Spent a week with my parents in So Cal. Took Katrina on many college tours from the west to the east. There are way too many schools to choose from and all good. I want to go back to college and do it right this time. First, get Ian and Katrina with degrees and then I can start my next life.

Getting back to the issue of the blog: It takes six months to heal from radiation (if you ever do) so I am waiting to heal until I can have my reconstruction. In the meantime I take tamoxifen (drug in pill form) twice a day and get a herceptin drip every three weeks. I have completed a year since I had my original surgery and all in all I am hanging in there. You have to!!! My mom passed away suddenly on January 4, so it has been an emotionally draining January. I am beginning to recover from all the emotions of trying to save her for twenty four hours, letting her go for another twenty four hours, and then celebrating her life which she had a great one. Lot's of support from family and friends during this time but it does not take the loss away!

During my healing from radiation my reconstruction plastic surgeon has told me to exercise so we spent a week skiing at Lake Tahoe over the break with some wonderful friends and Phil's brother, Bob, who lives and works at Squaw Valley. Six days of skiing and I really felt like a new woman. I did have to take it easy but the snow was so great I couldn't miss a day!! I have been working with lymphatic drainage exercises and that is sort of my new exercise passion. The lymph system is very interesting and needs to be kept moving!!! Especially after it has been traumatized, as mine has!!

All in all I am getting on with it and keeping up with my meditation, accupuncture, spiritual growth. It has all helped me during my mom's passing. I have some wonderful visions and her and her spirit truly is soaring. Look for her when you have a moment. Will keep you posted.... Lynn
